    Job description

    Weekend role - this role covers a wide range of admin responsibilities and will broaden a skill set. There is a lot of support to ensure the correct applicant will succeed in all aspects of the role. The key object of this role is to provide effective administrative and reception support to the General Manager and Care Home.


    Hours: 8am to 5pm/9am to 6pm. Lunch: 1-hour unpaid Working days: Saturday and Sunday - every weekend of the month except one weekend (16 hours) which can be worked across 2 weekdays instead.


    The role includes:

    • Manage reception desk
    • Filing
    • Answering phone calls and directing them to correct departments
    • First point of contact with relatives
    • Liaising with professionals’ bodies
    • Auditing staff files
    • Contract administration for residents

    Apprenticeship information:

    • Business administrator Equal to Level 3 (A level)
    • An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

    Job description

    Business Administration Apprentice Level 3 required for a busy and successful, family-run plumbing & heating company in Ansty, near Haywards Heath.


    Hours/days: Monday to Friday 8.45 to 5.15pm.


    The ideal candidate will be organised, have an excellent telephone manner and be able to work in a fast-paced environment – a good sense of humour would also support the role.


    We are looking for someone who is a quick learner, loyal, reliable and takes pride in their work.


    The role includes:

    • answering telephone and email enquiries
    • managing the engineer's diaries.
    • organise parts and re-visits.

    Apprenticeship information:

    Experience in a customer focusing role would be beneficial but isn’t necessary as full training will be provided. You must have your own transport due to our location. An immediate start is required.

  • Chef Apprenticeship - Orpington

    Job description

    The role will include, but is not limited to the following:

    • The Chef de Partie will support the Head Chef to manage the kitchen operation for BR6, a sixty-cover restaurant as well as the connected Bakehouse and Terrace area, with direct line management of the kitchen team.
    • This role includes support for maintaining operating procedures and standards in line with College Policies. As well as supporting opportunities in collaboration with the curriculum team for training and assessment of students on Hospitality and Catering courses.
    • A significant part of activity will be supporting the Head Chef to manage and maintain the daily operations in the kitchen including food safety and health and safety. Supporting the Head Chef to liaise with purchasing companies for food orders, maintaining or raising the profit margins on food, producing menus and new dishes and managing and supporting the training a brigade of student chefs.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER:


    The person appointed will be required to work flexibly within a team environment and will be allocated a range of duties and responsibilities. The post holders will work closely with Directorate and other College staff and will be allocated a range of duties. The duties allocated may be varied or changed by the line manager dependent on the needs of the service.


    • To support the Head Chef, to lead, train, mentor, and manage the culinary team which will include apprentices and trainee student chefs and supervisors. 2. To work hours as requested by the Head Chef, which may include evenings and weekends. This post requires a flexible working pattern as necessary to ensure that the service is fully accessible according to restaurants opening hours, the events calendar and any special requirements, for example special functions, Open days and enrolment periods.
    • Support the development and planning of menus and daily specials in collaboration with the Head Chef, with a focus on sustainability, seasonality and minimal waste.
    • Maintenance of all food safety processes, manage HACCP procedures well and oversee good health and safety practices in the kitchen for staff, visitors and customers. Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
    • Support the maintenance and cleaning of equipment, storage, and work areas. Follow COSHH regulations and to manage this effectively.
    • Participate in restaurant team meetings, annual reviews and resulting action & improvement plans
    • To support the academic team with planning and organising a high-quality student work experience programme.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Owns their part in the purchasing cycle, incl. purchase order creation, and purchase order follow up.
